"Survivor"

For our Relief Society meeting tonight we played a great game of "Survivor". We split into two teams, and chose our own team names; the "Green Geckos" and the "Purple People Eaters". Each team was given three challenges. Each team tried to collect the most points.
One Challenge was to make a shelter out of Three tarps, a rope, a spool of twine and we coule use anything outside to help us construct our shelter.

Team Green Geckos

Team Purple People Eaters
The next challenge was the food challenge. Each team had to eat five different cold M.R.E meals, hydrated chicken, and Vienna sausages. Each item was worth a point. The team who ate the most won the challenge.

We also created a list of survival items that we might need in times of distress. Points were given for the number of items on our lists. Some of the things on the lists were; first aid kits, matches, lanterns, propane, water, cannned food, clothing, etc. 72 hour kit and food storage items. It really got us thinking about the things we do have and the things we stil need.

The third challenge was to created a weeks worth of meals, the grocery list and spend the least amount of money in the process. We used weekly adds from the news paper to complete this challenge. We came up with some great inexpensive meals and decided that we would like to have a copy of what we had created. I don't have a copy of it now but stay tuned for that information at a later time.
During our "Survivor" night there was a lot of team work, laughter, brain storming and funny faces. (food challenge)
During Tribal Council the judges informed us of our teams points. The "Green Gecko" team was awarded 183 points. And the "Purple People Eaters" came out on top with 187 points. Honorable mention was giving to Tiffany Kunz of the "Green Gecko" team for consuming the most M.R.E meals and Vienna sausages!! Now that's team spirit.
Trail mix helped us to regain our energy after our tough challenges. And "Pay Day" candy bars were giving to the winning team..... The "Purple People Eaters" just in case you forgot :)
We missed those of you who couldn't be with us and hope that you will be able to come next time. The first Tuesdays of every month are our meeting times. We meet at the church at 7:00 unless told different. Thank you to our fabulous committe for a great evening.

A Thought on Love for the month of February

"Because love is the great commandment, it ought to be at the center of all and everything we do in our own family, in our Church callings, and in our livelihood. Love is the healing balm that repairs rifts in personal and family relationships. It is the bond that unites families, communities, and nations. Love is the power that initiates friendship, tolerance, civility, and respect. It is the source that overcomes divisiveness and hate. Love is the fire that warms our lives with unparalleled joy and divine hope. Love should be our walk and our talk."

R. S Meeting on budgeting

We had a great turn out last night to our Enrichment meeting. We talked about budgeting. Mainly our shopping/grocery budget; menu options and food storage. We heard from Pyper Clark, Sharron Wells, Leann Ahlberg, Teresa Allred, and Jennifer Gardner. They gave us some great ideas on how to plan your meals, plan our shopping lists, adding to our food storage and suggested checking the adds that come in the mail, and even had some great web sites we could use to helps us prepare better. And save money in the process.

We missed those of you who couldn't make it and hope to see you next month.
